#1 – Ring
Sometimes when he would look at his wedding ring, John would feel guilty about betraying Alison; but looking into those innocent coffee brown eyes helped him know who he wanted most.
#2 – Hero
Keith always saw John as a hero when he needed to be saved from hippies, not to mention that time he started choking on a blood capsule during one of their “fights” to scare off said hippies.
#3 – Memory – 1980
Even two years after Keith’s death John still found the most obscure things triggering memories of his best friend and lover, that’s why he never talked about him.

“Happy Valentine’s Day luv…” Keith grinned, placing a heart shaped box in front of John before wrapping his arms around him – what a shame their moment was ruined by Roger’s gagging and Pete’s snickering.
#5 – Run
Neither understood why, but every time the bassist and drummer gazed at each other in a certain way Pete and Roger knew when to run off and give them privacy.
#6 – Hurricane
Most of the time Keith was an annoying, hyperactive hurricane, but maybe that energy is what John loved the most about him.
#7 – Wings – 1977
No matter how much Keith had changed, John still felt like he was flying without wings when he returned to England after a stint in California.
#8 – Cold – 1975
California or not, Keith’s night were cold and lonely without John; filled with so much sadness he would have to hit the bottle harder just to fall asleep.

Even though John was always a snappy dresser, Keith always thought he looked best in red.

Whenever they went out drinking John would order old red wine with Keith ordering something stronger, sometimes they would both order brandy; no one would ever know that these men shared more than a love of drinking.

Before they understood their feelings for each other, one of them would always wind up staring at the other the nights they shared a room on tour until well past midnight.

In the beginning of their relationship, temptation was a hard thing to ignore – a few incidents with unlocked doors and Pete helped change that though.

Sometimes John wondered if Keith’s spirit was watching him, maybe the heavens had a nice view.

With both John and Keith being musicians, music was very important to them, not only did it provide a job it brought them together.

While most people found John’s calloused hands rough and irritating, they felt like silk to Keith.

They always wondered if Roger and Pete got tired of covering for them, but the reply always was “What’re friends for?”

Keith looked at him with imploring eyes “John promise me that no matter what happens, you’ll never hate me.”

Even twenty years after his death, Keith still haunted John in his dreams.

When they were together it was like someone lit a candle in their hearts.

Keith always knew that his drumming was just a talent, but finding John and the band was a gift.

Some people found silence antagonizing, they found it reassuring.

Pete and Roger debated revealing their late bandmates relationship in the Amazing Journey movie before they decided it was beast kept between them and the grave.

There were two fires in their lives; the fire for their music and the fire for their romance.

Keith saw John as a pillar of strength, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well.

John always knew that being forgotten was something Keith feared the most and it hurt him to see the man he loved so much suffer from it.

Sometimes, late at night, their bodies would unite in a dance that only they understood the rhythm to.

John almost felt his heart rip in half when Keith’s mother said how he “meant the world and beyond” to Keith.

Their love was far from formal, which is why John and Keith could never be openly expressive about it beyond their bandmates.

In retrospect maybe trying to help John with a sprained ankle while already suffering from a fever wasn’t Keith’s smartest idea.

Sometimes John didn’t know if Keith’s antics made him want to laugh or hold his head in sheer embarrassment.

Their relationship was one that had to be hidden with lies, each one that tore into their hearts a little more.

After John’s death both Roger and Pete would look to the sky, happily acknowledging that him and Keith were finally together, free from judgment, forever.

Sometimes John would feel overwhelmed with stress while trying to write a song, but as soon as he felt Keith’s arms around him that stress turned into bliss.

“I love you” John whispered hotly into Keith’s ear as they held each other in the darkness, sending shivers down the young drummer’s spine.

Beyond Earth and space Keith waits for him, knowing they’ll be together someday yet still longing to once again be in the bassist’s strong arms.

Sometimes they would stay up all night just talking about music, life and other things, safe in the feeling they would always be there for each other.

After his death John searched for the answer of why Keith’s time had come so soon, knowing this sadness would never let him go.

What kept John going all those years was the hope he and Keith would be together again.

In public they had to eclipse their romance with the fact they were best friends.

The hazy feeling running through his mind as John held Keith in his arms was enough to make the drummer feel like he was defying gravity.

John and Keith’s relationship could be considered just like a highway, filled with plenty of twists and turns, bumps in the road and detours along the way; but just like any highway it always led towards the place you wanted to be most.

The start of the relationship was filled with many emotions; excitement, lust, love and a fear of the unknown.

Their relationship was one that was always hidden behind locked hotel room doors, where they could always unlock the doors to their hearts.

As John took his last breath, he lightly smiled seeing a young, healthy Keith reaching towards him, grinning and saying they were finally together.
